Sareka Crawford and Talicia Bennett gain extensions on their 2019 scholarships

As a result of the crippling effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the administration of schooling in Jamaica, new scholarships will not be awarded for the 2020/21 academic year.

Instead, the Directors of the Gillian Whylie Scholarship Fund have decided to further the scholarships of the current awardees through to 2021.

The Directors are therefore pleased to inform that Ms. Sareka Crawford and Ms. Talicia Bennett will receive financial support through extensions of their scholarships for the academic year 2020/21.  Ms. Crawford will receive another JM$200,000 for her second year at the University of the West Indies.  Ms. Bennett will have $100,000 available to assist with expenses for her second year in CAPE studies at St. Jago High School.

More information on the two awardees is available on the 2019 scholarship page of this website.  We congratulate Ms. Crawford and Ms. Bennett on their performances and wish them well as they further their studies in the difficult arena of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
